FIRST-TIME WELSH WINNER OF SHOOTING CHAMPIONSHIPS

Lloyd Morris beat competitors from across Britain to win the High Gun competition at the Clay Pigeon Shooting Association’s Home International held at the prestigious Lecq Shooting Ground at Jersey in the Channel Islands. Lloyd, who was competing in the veteran class, is the first Welshman to hold the title. He was also captain of the Welsh Team which came second in the competition.

Regular practice is an essential for success and Lloyd also paid tribute to his sponsors, Laugharne Corporation. The Corporation helped with the costs involved in taking part in the championships and provided a quilted jacket embroidered with its coat of arms.

Lloyd (left) returned to the Corporation to show the cup and shield he had won to the Portreeve, Matthew Thomas, and members of the Corporation. “I am grateful for the support of the Corporation,” said Lloyd “and hope it will continue to assist local people in pursuing sporting success in the future.”

Notes: The Welsh Team comprised 3 juniors, 3 ladies, 10 seniors, 3 veterans and 3 super veterans making a total of 12 competitors
